New Branson Bridge | Blog

Things are always changing in good old Branson, MO. That's progress. That's good. But it does force us to break out of our routines and comfort levels to move forward. That's also good.
At long last, the new Taneycomo bridge between Branson and Hollister on Branson Landing Boulevard is open. I've been driving across it for a little over a month now, and it did throw me for a loop the 1st time across. For starters, you have to get used to the roundabout on the Hollister side. Once you've done a roundabout a time or two, they're no big deal. There's a stoplight at Main Street, where, for now, you can turn West and head into the old down town district. There is talk about closing that turn lane in the summer if traffic backs up too much there. If that happens, you can always double back at the roundabout on the north end of the Branson Landing.
Once you get used to the change in traffic flow, you can definitely see the benefit. The new bridge is open, the old is closed for repair for the next year. Once the old Taneycomo bridge is re-opened, there'll be four lanes worth of bridge coming and going, and relieving the traffic nightmare that used to be associated with heading out eastbound 76 out of Branson to Hollister, Forsyth, and Kirbyville. I, for one, look forward to it. Bring on progress!
